Teach me Thy law

I have been listening to scripture on my way to and from work the last several days. It has really been a joy to have that much scripture going through my head, and it gives you something to think about at work. I drive at least fourty five minutes each way, and with most of the chapters in psalms being less than two minutes, I have listened to the first fourty chapters of Psalms twice, the book of Esther, and started First Samuel.
If you really want a challenge, start praying through the book of Psalms. And make it personal, and inserting Me or I where it would be appropriate. Sometimes it helps having something like that to pray, and it is a good way to learn how to pray. And no, you can't pray the imprecatory Pslams on your siblings. Just in case you were wondering

M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I

Okay...
I was in a weird mood when I posted last.
"Score" does not do justice to the work that the young ladies did in Missiissippi.
They would work all day,(some of them in a hot trailer straightening tools) and still have an awesome dinner prepared for us when we got back. Not to mention breakfast and lunch. And they did it with such a joyful attitude. The blessing they were to us was incredible. They were not out there fixing up houses, but our work was very much affected by their kindness.
It was like Sunday afternoon all week.

White Hurricane

We leave tomorrow for Mississippi! Several of us young men are going down there to help another church rebuild some houses taken out by hurricanes. There at least four of us, perhaps five. Brother no. 3 wanted to come but somebody has to help Dad hold down the fort, so he drew the short straw. And he has been gone all this week at deaf camp.
But... we are not going alone. Also tagging along are several young ladies from church, coming to cook for us (Score!)and perhaps others, among other things. It wil be fun being able to work with my brothers in Christ, not to mention the fellowship.
I will catch you on the flip side.

A little history

My apologies to the minions. I have not thought about my blog much lately. And asking to get on the computer, with only intentions of blogging seems silly sometimes. (And doesn't always work). Anyway, the carpentry idea is a good one so here it goes.
I was at home minding my own buisines, (wondering when my welding job would start back up, the shop was slow over the winter) when a friend called me and asked if I could help lay some hard wood flooring. I said sure, seeing as I wasn't working somewhere else. It was over two thousand square feet of unfinished flooring. That equates to about two weeks on your knees, going baack and foourth. Back and fourth. Moving rather quickly to keep the flooring laid out ahead of the guy nailing the floor down. I lost over five pounds on that job. :-) Maybe I should do it again... I had a good work ethic and what I didn't know I was teachable. The boss liked me and offered me a job with pay starting at two dollars higher than he usually started newbies out at. That is where I learned the basics. And the some of the fancy stuff too. But alas, he did some things ethicly that I did not agree with, and I had the oppurtunity to do a job on my own, so I told him that it was time to move on.

... To be continued...

Taking dominion in tuxedo's

My brothers and I went to battle. In tuxedo's no less. We were asked to call for a formal dance for a church in Pella Iowa. It was a lot of fun. Dances always are. But the formality of it all was particularly fun as we had not done a dance in tuxedo's before.
As we were discussing the dance with the pastor he brought up the point that we were fighting gnostic thinking. We were waging war agianst the enemy, dressed in tuxedo's, having a ball (pun inteneded:-)! Can it get much better? Yes you can be a Christian and dance. Being a Christian does not mean you must totally avoid the things that the world has taken and used improperly. It is taking them back and doing them well, in moderation, to the glory of God. Doing things like dancing and drinking without being ruled by them is one way that we can show the world that we are different.
My brothers have a picture or two on their blogs

Work

I have not posted in some time now.
I have been out of work for a while. And I have gotten some work lately. And then when I get home I haven't wanted to mess with the computer. Things are looking up though. I have talked with a man who says that he can get me all sorts of trim work. He would arrange it, almost like a general contractor, and I would do it. I am hopeful.

Long days

I said in the questionaire that a perfect day was one that I came home exhausted from doing my work to the best of my abilities. I had one of those days about a week and a half ago. We left for work at six a.m., worked hard all day and we did not get home tillseven thirty that night. On top of that I made several dumb mistakes which added stress on top the already long day. I am glad God gives us chances to rectify our mistakes and does not just say "hup, you made a mistake- you're out of here!" I think that I like long days in theory, but at the end of a thrirteen hour day, sometimes it doesn't seem quite as nice as it does on a different day.
